Measure B Campaign
In September 2020, the Cathedral City City Council passed ordinance 842, which controls Short Term Vacation Rental activity in the city. Subsequently, the powerful STVR industry launched a signature campaign that resulted in the ordinance being placed on a special ballot – Measure B – on March 2, 2021. That measure was approved by residents with a resounding 63% of the vote in favor.
Following certification of the result on March 18, 2020, the city began to implement and enforce the provisions of the ordinance.

Graphics – Flyers, Ads etc.
Since Facebook had a moritorium on paid political advertising, our advertisements were limited to graphics (memes) placed in Facebook groups. In addition, we provided yard signs, and billboard ads. You can view and download those assets on our Spread The Word page.
Other Campaign Action Pages
The Ways To Help page listed actions that residents might take. It also included links for donations – now removed, since we are no longer accepting donations.
The Comments From Council Members page groups together comments from council members with video from the 2020 meetings where they discussed the problems STVRs impose on our city.
A lot of false information was distributed by the NO on B campaign. Included in that was a repeated attempt to confuse voters on the actual cost of the measure. In this paper, we explained why the loss in tax revenues will be far less than they stated. Arguably, the reduced revenues will be even less than those illustrated here. The worst case scenario shows lost revenue at just 0.39% of total city tax revenues.
