The city council spent over a year studying the issues surrounding Short-Term Vacation Rentals. Hear and read what they had to say about why they are supporting YES on B.

We welcome visitors to Cathedral City and believe there is room for everyone. Tourism is important and we support vacation rentals in communities designed to manage them. But our family neighborhoods are for families and neighbors, and their well-being must come first. Residents deserve the quiet enjoyment of their homes, to have the chance to know and befriend their neighbors, and to become involved in their community. It’s this sense of community that encompasses the core strength of our city and it is simply not for sale.

Short term vacation rentals – STVRs – have taken away the tranquility, safety and the feel of good neighbors within our neighborhoods, all for money profit of STVR owners. It’s time to get our neighborhoods back!

I am proud to support recommendations for STVRs that restore our neighborhoods and preserve the quality of life for our residents

The quality of life depends on where you spend it. I believe most would agree your home is where it starts. That is why it is so important to return Cathedral City back to what it is meant to be, family based neighborhood. Not a business neighborhood. I support the ban on STVR in Cathedral City.

Councilmember Ross was elected in November 2020, and was not part of the special session. She has however provided a statement concerning her views regarding STVRs.

Tourism is a valuable part of Cathedral City. Short Term Vacation Rentals (STVR’s) are businesses and do not fit next to family homes. There are other areas in Cathedral City where STVR’s are welcomed. I fully support the ability of STVR’s to do business in our city, in appropriate communities. It’s a winning formula for all.
